Permanent Commission For Women Officers In Indian Army

What is actually the permanent commission?

The permanent commission allows any women officers who joined the defence via the SSC to work until their age of retirement even after their service for 10 or 14 years and also for their posting in command roles in army's non combat streams.

The Supreme Court granted PC for Women in Indian Army on February 2020.

This permission paves the way for empowering women officers to shoulder larger roles in the organisation.

A permanent commission selection board has been scheduled by the army headquarters for women to exercise their opinion and complete requisite documentations.

The PC is granted to women officers in all the 10 streams of army namely :  AAD, Signals, Engineers, Army aviation, EME,  ASC, AOC,  JAG, and AEC.

Anupama Joshi (retd) Wing Commander who is from the first batch of women officers was behind the supreme court to grant the permission. She wanted women in combat roles too.

Advocate Aiswarya Bhati represented women officers in supreme court.
